Untitled Room is an investigation into VR and 3D scanning technologies (photogrammetry). The project looks at how these tools work technically and theoretically. Untitled Room explores the area between the ‘digital’ and the ‘real’ worlds. Using ‘coded 12-bit marker points’ (digital photo scanning technique) the room was digitised and uploaded into a game engine. People were then given a chance to use the ‘Oculus Rift’ (virtual reality headset) to view the digital version of the room they were already in. The idea is simple but asks important questions about reality, perception and technology’s role in understanding the world around us.
